Research

PEP conducts research which gathers the voices and concerns of young women, transgender, and gender non-conforming young people, related to PEPs reproductive justice priority issue areas. We also create programs and tools that are guided and informed by the data that this research yields.

Currently, PEP is working on the RISE Initiative, a program that combines qualitative research and leadership development to raise the voices of young people around reproductive justice issues. Read more about RISE here, and stay tuned for results from the RISE focus groups in Spring 2010.

Some of our past research initiatives include:

  • She Speaks: In 2004, PEP conducted a series of focus groups with young African-American and Latina women in order to capture their unique and essential perspectives on reproductive rights and health. You can read the introduction, executive summary, and methodology online, and download a pdf of the entire report.

  • On Our Terms: In the winter of 2008, PEP teamed up with Lake Research Partners to execute a national quantitative research project to explore the attitudes, behaviors, and civic engagement of African American, Latino, and Asian Pacific Islander women between the ages of 16 and 25 in the United States. You can download the research report here.

All of PEP's messaging and education campaigns are guided by what we learn through our research projects. You can see all of our ad campaigns here.
